Enjoy an afternoon with us at two of the Chamonix Valley’s top attractions. Leaving Chamonix we first drive to Les Houches and climb the mountain road to:

Merlet Animal Park

Perched high on the mountainside in a privileged position, facing the Massif de Mont-Blanc, the Merlot Animal Park enables both adults and children to see marmottes, ibex, deer, lama and chamois in their natural environment.

Covering over 50 hectares, the park offers a magnificent panorama of the glaciers and peaks of the Mont Blanc Massif. There is a snack-bar with terrace and a video projection about Alpine flora as well as an exhibition on the history of Merlet.

Note. The Merlet Animal Park is not suitable for those with walking difficulties or wheel chair users. There is a 15 minute steep walk up the uneven access path from the coach park.

After visiting the Merlet Animal Park, we descend the mountainside to continue our drive down the valley to the village of Servoz. Here we visit:

Gorges de la Diosaz

The mountain torrent of La Diosaz has its source on the south side of Mont Buet at 3099m. It has made its path through a narrow, yet very green, natural fault between the towering cliffs of rock cascading down in a succession of seven waterfalls. In 1871 Archile Cazin commissioned works to create a series of suspended pathways on the side of the gorge to enable to public to admire the power and creation of the water.

The Gorges de la Diosaz offers a spectacular and unusual visit in a natural and wild environment. The shaded and well equipped walkways are solidly built, sometimes into the sheer rockface. The return walk takes approximately 1hr 30mins.
