Leaving the Chamonix Valley via the Col de Montets, we drive into Switzerland and through the Trient Valley before climbing over the Col de Forclaz pass. As we descend through the vineyards towards Martigny there are spectacular views over the Rhone valley. We then skirt the eastern shores of Lac Leman before arriving at Gruyère and Broc:

After free time for lunch, we begin to retrace our journey before arriving at:
Chatelard Funicular & Emosson Dam
The Chatelard Funicular dates from 1920 and holds the world record for the steepest two-carriage ascent (87%). At the top terminal, you transfer to a 60cms gauge train for a journey along the balcon which affords spectacular views. The final 140m ascent is by a mini-funicular. Once here you can walk across the dam and around the lakeside, enjoying the stunning scenary.
